Report provides fresh update over John Terry’s potential return to Aston Villa

Aston Villa are thought to be considering appointing John Terry as their assistant manager.

According to a report on Sky Sports, Aston Villa won’t force their new manager to bring in John Terry as assistant.

Terry announced his retirement from football yesterday, which sparked rumours that the Chelsea legend was set to become assistant manager at Villa.

However, although he is being considered, Villa are not making it a necessity that Terry comes in.

Villa’s board feel Terry could be an excellent number two, but whoever Villa’s new manager is, will be given the freedom to pick his own staff.

That could mean that Terry’s best chance of coming in at Villa is if Thierry Henry gets the job.

The Telegraph have reported how Villa are considered Henry and Terry as a managerial duo, with the pair wiling to work together.

Villa also have other names in the hat, including Brendan Rodgers and Rui Faria, but they may have different opinions on who they want as their assistant.
