Newcastle United defender Florian Lejeune picked up an injury towards the back end of last season.

Lejeune damaged his knee towards the end of last season, but sparked hopes that he could return to Newcastle far more quickly than initially thought when he posted a video of himself running just weeks after suffering the problem.
However, it seems that Lejeune’s comeback still is some way off, with Newcastle having to do without the centre-back for the entirety of pre-season.
That is a blow to Newcastle, as Lejeune has the potential to be such a key player for them.

The £8.7 million signing (BBC Sport) is one of Newcastle’s finest defenders, and his partnership with Fabian Schar could be excellent.
Lejeune has suffered badly with injuries ever since arriving at St. James’ Park, and will be looking to finally avoid the treatment table for a prolonged period of time when he does eventually return to action.
