Andre Gomes’s surgery went well, but there is no chance of him featuring for Everton again this season.

Gomes suffered a fracture dislocation on his ankle during Everton’s match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The reaction of the players on the pitch showed the severity of the injury immediately, with Gomes rushed to hospital for surgery.
The Portuguese international’s operation went well, and there is now optimism around Everton that he will be able to get back to full fitness in time.
That is a huge relief for Everton, although it could be that Gomes does not return until next season.
Everton now have a big task to find a replacement for Gomes, as he is their most talented midfielder.

Tom Davies and Fabian Delph look likely to be Marco Silva’s first choice combination in midfield, but neither posses the same creativity as Gomes.
Everton could also call upon Morgan Schneiderlin or Jean-Philippe Gbamin, who is currently out injured, as options to use in central midfield.
Everton’s first match without Gomes comes at the weekend, when they take on Southampton.
