It had been claimed last week that Everton had already wrapped up a deal to sign the Barcelona midfielder.

According to Spanish media outlet ara.cat, Everton are dragging their heels with regards to wrapping up a deal to sign Andre Gomes, and Barcelona aren’t happy.
Mundo Deportivo claimed last week that the Toffees struck a deal with Barca to sign Gomes, 25, for just £22 million – an absolute bargain in today’s market.
The Spanish side are in a race to sell many of their players, as they do not want to post significant losses by July 1st, and the Gomes sale was expected to be smooth sailing.
That doesn’t appear to be the case, however, with Spanish media outlet ara.cat reporting that Everton are holding up the deal for reasons that are not explained.

The Portuguese ace spent last season on loan with the Toffees, and he was a real hit in the Premier League.
Marco Silva will be desperate to get the deal to sign Gomes wrapped up as soon as possible, and the longer that it drags on, the more likely that it could collapse.
The Barca ace was so important for Everton last season, and if they want to enjoy a successful campaign next term, it will be vital for the Merseyside outfit so ensure that he is back playing for them on a permanent basis.
