It has been reported that a source has said that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are ready to give Benitez a chance to return to Newcastle, with the Spaniard having left St. James’ Park only last summer.
However, according to the report, the former Real Madrid head coach will have to take a pay-cut if he wants to come back to the Magpies, as PIF are concerned about the cost of paying compensation to his current club Dalian Professional and then his salary.
Go all out for Rafael Benitez?
Benitez was brilliant during his first managerial spell at Newcastle, and there is no doubt that the St. James’ Park faithful would welcome the Spaniard back with open arms.
True, it would be costly for the Magpies, but they are about to enter a new era, and a manager of Benitez’s calibre and reputation would make the club so attractive to quality players.
Newcastle are unlikely to get relegated to the Championship and are still in the FA Cup this season.
