According to The Express, the prospective new owners of Newcastle United are not bothered about Gonzalo Higuain’s struggles at Chelsea.

It has been reported that the prospective new owners of Newcastle, Saudi Arabia’s PIF, are interested in signing Higuain from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

The Magpies’ Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers also want to secure the services of the Argentine striker this summer, according to the report.

The Express has claimed that PIF have not been put off by the 32-year-old’s struggles at Chelsea, with the player himself open to moving back to the Premier League.

Chelsea spell

Higuain was on loan at Chelsea from Juventus during the second half of the 2018-19 campaign.

According to WhoScored, the former Real Madrid striker made 13 starts and one substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Blues, scoring five goals in the process.

The 32-year-old Argentine played just 24 minutes in the Europa League for the London club, according to WhoScored.

Football in England is suspended at the moment, and it remains to be seen how much impact the current global health crisis has on the summer transfer window.
