According to The Scottish Sun, Norwich City are now looking to sign Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer in an ambitious move this summer.
Daniel Farke wants a new centre back this summer having guided Norwich back to the Premier League, and sporting director Stuart Webber has allegedly been spotted watching Celtic of late.
Newcastle United want to sign Ajer, but Norwich are now joining the race for the Norwegian, who is still admired by AC Milan.
The Canaries are allegedly considering a move of around £8million, the same fee they’re paying to sign Burnley defender Ben Gibson permanently this summer.
Ajer could be signed as competition for Gibson and Rangers-mad Grant Hanley, whilst Farke can also call upon Christoph Zimmermann too.
Ajer, 23, has excelled in his five years with Celtic, transitioning from the holding midfielder signed by Ronny Deila to a fine centre back under Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon.

The problem for Celtic is that Ajer’s contract expires in 2022, and they may be forced to sell in a cut-price move this summer, which has given Norwich hope of a deal.
Celtic fans may feel that Ajer can do better, but don’t doubt Norwich’s ambition under Webber and Farke, and they may see Ajer as the star defender they need to survive in the top flight this time around.
