Leeds United are still expected to get a deal done with time running out.

According to German newspaper Bild, the hold-up in Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s move to Leeds United is due to problems with the paperwork.

The report alleges that the 25-year-old’s current club Hamburg made a mistake in terms of sending the transfer documents, thus holding up an official announcement from the Whites.

The Bundesliga side jumped the gun when they did confirm a deal earlier this week, only to quickly delete their social media posts and later admit their mistake.

The issue is not expected to prevent a deal from going through before this evening’s deadline, with the German forward expected to complete a season-long loan move to Elland Road.

If he arrives as expected, he will join another new addition in the form of Pawel Cibicki, whose move from Malmo was confirmed by Leeds earlier today.

Leeds have made a number of impressive signings this summer, including Samu Saiz, Mateusz Klich, Ezgjan Alioski and Matthew Pennington.

Lasogga will be hoping to join them shortly, and while his form last season left a lot to be desired, when he is given regular game time he is far more effective in front of goal.

As a consequence it is expected that Lasogga will take on the role previously held by Leeds’ top-scorer last season Chris Wood, with the likes of Cibicki, Alioski and Saiz operating behind him.
