According to The Sun, West Ham United have not given up hope of signing Billy Gilmour from Chelsea before the January transfer window closes next week.
The British tabloid has claimed that Chelsea are reluctant to strengthen a rival for the Champions League places.
With West Ham emerging as surprise contenders for the Premier League top four, this means that the Blues may not be willing to sanction a loan move for Gilmour to the Hammers, according to the report.
However, according to the report, West Ham have not totally given up hope, with manager David Moyes still interested in bringing his Scottish compatriot to the London Stadium on loan for the rest of the season.
Stay or leave?
Gilmour is only 19 years of age and recently recovered from a long-term injury.
It is going to be hard for the Scotland Under-21 international midfielder to play regularly for Chelsea.
A loan move to West Ham would make sense, but at the same time, staying at Stamford Bridge and impressing new Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel in training would be beneficial to the youngster’s long-term future at the Blues.
