According to the Lancashire Evening Post, Rangers target Daniel Johnson will soon hold talks over his Preston North End future – and Celtic-linked Ben Davies is involved too.
With the transfer window now over, Preston have managed to fend off interest in a number of their players, including Johnson and Davies.
They should now be key players for Alex Neil at least until January, but the battle over their long-term futures is far from over.
Both Davies and Johnson are out of contract next summer, meaning they are now free to sign pre-contract agreements with non-English clubs when the January window opens.
That could be good news for Celtic and Rangers; The Sun report that Davies is ‘looking likely’ to sign for Celtic on a pre-contract agreement, whilst Rangers offered £1.5million for Johnson in September.
Preston are now fighting to keep them, and with the summer window closed, they’re ready to start talks with Davies, Johnson, Ben Pearson and Alan Browne to figure out their plans.

If they don’t sign deals by January, the Old Firm duo will surely be interested in signing the two North End stars, either for free or in bargain moves.
The coming weeks will be key to the situation, and both Celtic and Rangers should be keeping tabs on the talks closely in the hope of a January deal.
