Interest is growing from across the Premier League in Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker-Peters, with The Sun (16 July, page 54) reporting that Southampton are hoping to get a £10 million deal signed, sealed and delivered as soon as possible.

While Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is unconvinced by the London-born 23-year-old, with the Standard suggesting that he would prefer to sign someone more physical for a troublesome right-back spot, there is no shortage of top-flight rivals who would jump at the chance to offer Walker-Peters a fresh start.

After a slow start to life at Southampton, the Saints loanee has gone from strength to strength in recent weeks.

He kept the electrifying Raheem Sterling at arm’s length during the most hard fought of 1-0 wins over Manchester City before showing his mettle in the attacking half too during a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Monday night.

As a result, Walker-Peters has firmly established himself as Southampton’s first-choice right-back with the fitful Yan Valery forced to watch on from the sidelines.

No wonder Ralph Hasenhuttl is pushing for a permanent deal, then.

The Sun are reporting that the South Coast club are hoping to tie up what could be a bargain £10 million deal before it’s too late.

After all, Southampton are far from the only Premier League club leaving flirtatious messages on Walker-Peters’ answering machine.

West Ham, Everton, Wolves and Burnley are all apparently in the market for a new right-back, though it remains to be seen if any of the aforementioned quartet are among Walker-Peters’ many suitors.
