Jack Clarke could land a Premier League return with Brentford just a year since Tottenham Hotspur sold him.

That is according to a new report from The Sun, who claim that Brentford are ‘looking closely’ at a potential deal for Clarke.

It’s stated that Crystal Palace have been tracking Clarke for a while now and could make a move of their own.

Brentford are now very interested though and could launch a summer bid of their own.

Sunderland will demand at least £10million for Clarke and a move could be done if the Black Cats miss out on promotion.

Brentford are always looking for exciting young talent that they can develop and turn into stars in West London.

Clarke may well fit that bill and he could end up facing off against his former club Tottenham in the Premier League next season.

Jack Clarke would surely love to prove Tottenham wrong

Tottenham pounced to sign Clarke from Leeds United back in the summer of 2019.

Spurs went around 18 months without making a signing before landing Clarke from Leeds United.

Clarke had shown real potential at Leeds and Spurs loaned him back to Elland Road to further his development.

That move didn’t really work, but neither did spells at Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City.

A move into League One helped Clarke last season as he joined Sunderland, who then turned the move permanent last summer.

That deal involved Tottenham receiving a low fee but add-ons could take the deal all the way up to £10million.

Clarke has now kicked on and is starting to fulfil his potential, bagging eight goals and 10 assists in 44 appearances.

Tottenham may have decided that Clarke wouldn’t become a Premier League player with them, but Brentford could have a different stance.

That would finally give Clarke a chance to shine in the Premier League – and ultimately prove Spurs wrong for letting him go.
