Brighton and Hove Albion are preparing for Yves Bissouma’s exit with Liverpool identifying the Premier League dynamo as a potential replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, as reported by The Telegraph.

Is there anything the all-action Mali international can’t do?

Snapping into tackles one minute, weaving through a flurry of legs the next, Bissouma is a Swiss Army knife of a midfielder without an obvious weakness to his game. Well, if we are being super picky, the former Lille ace could do with scoring a few more goals.

That final day screamer against Burnley last season represents 50 per cent of Bissouma’s Premier League tally in Brighton colours.

For the most part, however, the swaggering 24-year-old is one of the division’s most influential, watchable midfielders on his day.

And, with Netherlands international Wijnaldum set to become a free agent in July, the Telegraph reports Liverpool could look to bring in Bissouma as a replacement for Jurgen Klopp’s long-serving man for all seasons.

Brighton, it seems, are preparing for every eventuality – including the worst-case scenario.

The Telegraph adds Graham Potter’s side is “braced” for bids for Bissouma, who is valued at a cool £40 million. He’s expected to have a new club by the time 2021/22 kicks off.

Interestingly, earlier this month Football London reported Bissouma would choose to join Arsenal over any other Premier League club.

The Gunners could certainly find a place for a midfielder who looks every inch the ideal foil for Thomas Partey. Whether they can stump up the £40 million Brighton want, with so many other positions in need of reinforcement, is another matter entirely.
