Report: Premier League ace doesn’t want to join Everton despite opening day omission

Fikayo Tomori isn’t leaping at the chance to join Everton this summer as the defender is convinced he can force his way into Chelsea’s Premier League plans, according to TEAMtalk.

This time last year, the Canada-born centre-half was well on his way to following in the gilded footsteps of John ‘captain, leader, legend’ Terry at Stamford Bridge.

A 30-yard wonder goal in a 5-2 thumping of Wolves boosted Tomori’s burgeoning reputation, while an England debut was just rewards for a series of commanding Premier League and Champions League performances.

Flash forward to the present day, however, and – while Chelsea’s defensive problems are as prominent as ever – the Cobham academy graduate can’t buy a start under Frank Lampard.

The 22-year-old featured in just one of the Blues’ last 15 Premier League games in 2019/20 and was nowhere to be seen during the opening day victory at Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday.

But if Everton hoped the prospect of regular first-team football was enough to tempt Tomori to swap south London for the blue half of Merseyside, it seems one of Carlo Ancelotti’s key transfer targets has other ideas (Mirror).

TEAMtalk reports that, despite slipping even further down the pecking order after the arrival of Paris Saint-Germain legend Thiago Silva, Tomori believes he still has a role to play at Stamford Bridge this season.

Then again, with Yerry Mina and Michael Keane clearing everything in sight during Everton’s 1-0 triumph at Tottenham three days ago, there would be no guarantee of a starting place at Goodison Park either.
