According to a report from the Daily Mail, at least one of the parties interested in investing in Newcastle is unhappy that Mike Ashley revealed that he was in negotiations to sell the club on television.

Ashley caught the Newcastle fans’ attention earlier this week by publicly discussing the progress he has made in his attempts to sell the club. The Daily Mail reports that talks have not moved on as quickly as he would like and the interview was designed to try and push those discussions on.

It was noted that Ashley ideally wishes to have the club sold by the start of the January transfer window.

The Mail adds that two groups of investors are eyeing a potential buy-out of the Magpies, but at least one of those has been left unhappy with Ashley’s decision to go public with the talks.

The report goes on to suggest that it remains to be seen what kind of impact these issues may have on the talks.

Newcastle fans will certainly be hoping that Ashley’s comments do not cause any problems. While it is clear that many are hoping that his days are numbered at St James’ Park, the worst case scenario would surely be for the talks to drag on.

Any uncertainty is likely to have an impact what Benitez can spend in January. And after the 3-0 defeat to West Ham at the weekend, many supporters would be forgiven for thinking that the club cannot afford to not make waves in the market next month.
