According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley feels that he has done enough to facilitate a sale.

The report has claimed that Ashley wants to see the takeover of Newcastle completed.

It has been further claimed that there are at least two other buyers waiting if Saudi Arabia’s PIF fail to get the deal done.

One of the potential new buyers is media magnet Henry Mauriss, according to The Chronicle, although that was reported by The Mirror back in April.

The identity of the potential third buyer of Newcastle has not been mentioned in the report.

Patience needed

The potential takeover saga has been going on for weeks, but there is nothing much the Newcastle fans can do at the moment other than wait and hope that the PIF bid goes through.

It does seem very likely that Ashley will not be at the club for long, as the English businessman is reportedly so intent on selling Newcastle.

Perhaps in the coming years, the Magpies will return to the days of competing for Champions League places.

Meanwhile, former Newcastle midfielder Lee Clark has suggested that if the prospective new owners of the Magpies, PIF, do not keep current manager Steve Bruce beyond the end of the season, then they should appoint ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Clark told Tribal Football: “If the new owners decide from day one that they want a new manager, I would go for Mauricio Pochettino. And I think it is possible he would accept the job.”
