Potential Newcastle United signing Nabil Bentaleb has been given time off from training with Schalke to sort out his future, according to Kicker.
Newcastle opted against taking their option to make Bentaleb’s loan a permanent one (BILD), but doubts still remain about his future.
The Shields Gazette said three weeks ago that Bruce was still considering the signing, and that Newcastle could grab him for a ‘low price’ this summer.
Bentaleb was actually due to start training with Schalke again yesterday, but he did not participate in the session, as the German club want to give him time to sort out his next club.
Bentaleb hardly made himself a signing that Newcastle will be determined to make during his loan spell.

The Algerian did not particularly impress during his time at St. James’ Park, but he did at least strengthen Bruce’s options in midfield.
And, considering Newcastle have a small budget this summer, he could well become a potential option for the Magpies, if they fail to land other targets.
