Leeds United are amongst the sides reportedly interested in signing Jamal Lowe this summer.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Portsmouth are set to demand around £2 million for Jamal Lowe, with Leeds amongst the teams chasing the striker.

Lowe enjoyed a brilliant season at Fratton Park, scoring 17 goals as Pompey reached the semi-finals of the League One play-offs before losing to Sunderland. They also clinched victory over the same opponents in the final of the Checkatrade Trophy.

But it appears that Lowe’s form has left a question mark hanging over his future with Portsmouth. Sky Sports reports that Cardiff City, Wigan Athletic and Leeds are all now keen on the 24-year-old.

The report adds that Lowe will cost around £2 million, though it is not clear what his reported admirers make of his asking price.

It is going to be a hugely important summer at Elland Road. Leeds will be hoping to keep Marcelo Bielsa and then build a squad capable of going one step further than they did this past season as they also suffered play-off heartbreak.

It may not be a huge surprise if some of the supporters are somewhat underwhelmed by the links with Lowe. Despite his impressive form, it is arguably a gamble to spend a significant seven-figure fee on a player who has spent much of his career to date in non-league football.

However, given his goalscoring return this past season, there may be well be some Leeds fans who believe that it would be a good piece of business to get him through the door this summer.
