West Ham United are reportedly keen on Porto’s Danilo Pereira.
According to The Guardian, West Ham United remain in the market for a defensive midfielder – and are now targeting Porto’s Danilo Pereira ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The Hammers have added eight new signings this summer, as Lukasz Fabianski, Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena, Jack Wilshere, Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Xande Silva arriving at the London Stadium.
However, more signings are needed before Thursday’s transfer deadline, and a holding midfielder appears to be a priority for manager Manuel Pellegrini, with a host of names on the wish list.
The Guardian now report that Hector Herrera, Thiago Maia and Ignacio Camacho are on Pellegrini’s radar, which Porto’s Danilo Pereira is also in the frame for a move to East London this summer.
Pereira, 26, has been a key part of the Porto side since his 2015 move from Maritimo, hitting 14 goals in 115 games, and helping the side reclaim the Portuguese league title last season.
Born in Guinea-Bissau, Pereira has earned 27 caps for Portugal, and the 6ft 2in powerhouse has impressed with Porto, and West Ham may now want to bring him in to add physicality and defensive protection to their midfield.
If West Ham move for Pereira, he could be part of a triple deal with Porto, as the Hammers remain in talks with the club about signing winger Yacine Brahimi and striker Moussa Marega too.
That would be a remarkable end to a productive transfer window for West Ham, and fans may well be hoping that Pellegrini and Mario Husillos can pull off a big-money triple deal with Porto.
