Pontus Jansson has chosen to remain at Leeds United despite the club accepting a bid from FC Krasnodar, according to Expressen.

It is claimed the Russian side made Jansson their first choice centre-back target – and offered around 60 million Swedish Kroner (£5.1 million) to prise him away from Leeds.

But the Sweden international is said to have turned down the chance to leave, as a move to Russia is ‘not relevant’.

Jansson has struggled to get back into Leeds’ side after his late return from World Cup duty, while injury prevented him from standing in for Liam Cooper against Swansea City on Tuesday.

And his apparent decision to stick with the Whites despite being on the periphery appears to speak volumes about the project that is underway at Elland Road.

According to Fox Sports in Chile, Marcelo Bielsa – the new Leeds manager and catalyst of the club’s rise to the top of the Championship table – has also rejected a move, after emerging on the radar of Mexico’s football association.
