According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to push through a deal for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish before the club go on their US tour.

Spurs have yet to make a new signing this summer despite Pochettino’s desire to get signing made before the World Cup started; the tournament has now ended and Tottenham are still one of the few Premier League clubs yet to invest in signings.

With the transfer deadline much earlier this year, Tottenham are running out of time to strengthen their squad, and Pochettino is seemingly getting a little agitated.

The Mirror now report that Pochettino wants one new face in his squad for the club’s pre-season trip to the US on Sunday, with a deal for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish wanted.

It’s claimed that Pochettino wants him on board for the flight to the US, and after chairman Daniel Levy stalled on a move to drive the price down, Villa will allegedly halve their asking price from £40million to £20million.

With Villa cash-strapped and desperately needing funds, Levy’s tactic appears to have worked, and Tottenham may well feel that £20million is a good price for the playmaker.

Grealish, 22, bust onto the scene with Villa before losing his way somewhat, but he was back to his best last season, hitting three goals and six assists to drive Villa into the Championship play-off final, only to lose to Fulham.

The input of experienced players such as John Terry helped Grealish at Villa Park last season, and Pochettino is now hoping to seal his signature this week, adding competition for Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.
