Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly lining up a new bid for Barcelona’s Andre Gomes.
According to The Express, Tottenham Hotspur are planning to make a new move for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes this month.
Spurs may be out of the Premier League title race already, but Mauricio Pochettino is looking for a top four spot, and he may need new arrivals to push for a Champions League place.
A new midfielder appears to be a priority, but having seemingly backed away from Ross Barkley before his move from Everton to Chelsea, other targets must be considered.
The Express now report that Pochettino is once again keen to land Barcelona’s Andre Gomes, having failed with a move to land him on deadline day back in August.
Spurs attempted to take Gomes on loan, only for Barcelona to pull the plug on the deal, but with a lack of football this term coupled with Philippe Coutinho’s imminent move, Gomes appears to be available.
Gomes, 24, may have starred for Benfica and Valencia before his 2016 move to Barcelona, but he struggled last term, and has started just two La Liga games this season.
The Portuguese international moved in a deal worth £45million (then €55million, as reported by AS), but has failed to live up to that billing, with Pochettino now keen to try and get his career back on track.
The report notes that West Ham are keen on Gomes, but he doesn’t fancy a relegation battle, whilst Manchester United are backing away, meaning Tottenham may be in the lead for his signature.
