Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on Getafe’s Djene Dakonam.

According to Foot Mercato, Tottenham Hotspur are pushing to sign Getafe ace Djene Dakonam ahead of Atletico Madrid, whilst discussions have also bene held about a move to West Ham United.
Football has been blessed with a number of late bloomers over the years, with Luca Toni, Miroslav Klose, Didier Drogba and Jamie Vardy all rising to stardom around the age of 26 having previously failed to make names for themselves.
Another such case has been unfolding in Spain, as Getafe’s Djene Dakonam has suddenly become a wanted man having been a relative unknown even before the start of last season.
The Togo international, 26, turned out for Etoile Filante in Togo, Tonnerre d’Abomey in Benin and Coton Sport in Cameroon before heading to Alcorcon in 2014, and then Sint-Truidense in 2016 as he failed to really settle.
Getafe took a chance on Djene last summer, and he became a La Liga star last season, as he started 36 games for the Spanish side as a centre back, despite also being able to play in in holding midfield or at right back.
Now, Foot Mercato report that discussions have been held with Arsenal, Leicester City and West Ham United about a move to the Premier League, but Tottenham are now thought to be pushing the hardest of the English sides.

Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are also keen, but it’s claimed that Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino are now attempting to get Djene in for a staggering fee of €35million (£31million) before the transfer deadline.
Djene’s story is impressive, but Spurs fans would be forgiven for not being too impressed. He isn’t tall for a centre back at 5ft 10in, and whilst he is quick and versatile, and looks set for a move to a major club this summer, Tottenham supporters maybe had their sights set a little higher than Djene ahead of the new season.
