According to Foot Mercato, Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino has shown an interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
It’s claimed that Pochettino hasn’t been shy in targeting Spurs players and talking to their representatives about potential moves.
Four players are named; Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Serge Aurier, who have all been heavily linked with PSG in recent times.
The other name is Ndombele, which is more of a surprise given that few PSG links have been surrounding him of late.
Pochettino is thought to be interested though, even if Aurier looks like the Spurs player most likely to join PSG right now.
The Argentinian oversaw Ndombele’s 2019 move from Lyon to Tottenham, and Ndombele admitted to L’Equipe last year that Pochettino was the main reason he made the switch to Spurs.
Ndombele talked Pochettino up as ‘one of the best coaches in the world’, and claims that he ‘tipped the balance’ in favour of joining Spurs.
A reunion would surely appeal to Ndombele, who never seemed like Jose Mourinho’s favourite player and has struggled to minutes under interim boss Ryan Mason.
Add in that Ndombele was born in Longjumeau, a suburb of Paris, and heading home would surely be appealing for the midfielder.
Spurs surely won’t let him go easily, but getting his £200,000-a-week wages off the books may allow Tottenham’s next manager to invest in players he wants.
We would advise keeping Ndombele because he has enormous talent, but Pochettino’s alleged interest could turn his head a little, especially with PSG contenders for silverware on a consistent basis.
