Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly pursuing a summer deal for Bordeaux’s Malcom.
According to RMC Sport, Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has called Bordeaux talent Malcom in recent weeks to discuss a possible summer move to North London.
Malcom, 21, has been with Bordeaux since joining from Corinthians in January 2016, and he has blossomed this season with eight goals and six assists in 26 appearances for the club.
The Brazilian winger was strongly linked with a move to Tottenham in January, but Bordeaux managed to keep hold of him until at least the end of the season, when he is expected to move on.
Now, it’s claimed that Tottenham are back in the market for Malcom, with manager Pochettino making calls to him in order to gauge the possibility of a summer deal.
Too many wide players?
It’s noted that Bordeaux may demand up to €55million (£48.5million) for Malcom, with Bayern Munich keen as well, though links to Tottenham are somewhat surprising.
Spurs splashed the cash to bring in a Brazilian wide man from a French club in January, signing Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain, and it would be a shock to see them repeat that approach.
Pochettino already has Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Son Heung-min and Erik Lamela as well as new signing Moura, meaning another attacking midfield player may not be Tottenham’s immediate priority.
Pochettino is seemingly a huge fan of Malcom, and the Bordeaux star is certainly talented, but whether Tottenham really need him this summer is another matter entirely.
