Barcelona central defender Clement Lenglet wants to join Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported on Twitter that Tottenham have reached full agreement with Lenglet over personal terms.

The 27-year-old central defender is happy to join Tottenham, with head coach Antonio Conte personally pushing to bring him to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Romano has added that Tottenham and Barcelona will soon agree terms on the loan deal for the transfer of Lenglet, who has a release clause of €300 million (£259 million) in his contract (BBC Sport).

Clement Lenglet wants Tottenham Hotspur transfer from Barcelona

Good signing for Spurs?

In our view, Barcelona central defender Clement Lenglet would be a good signing for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old has not had the best of times at Barcelona, especially in recent years, but he is a very good left-footed central defender who would make Tottenham better and stronger defensively.

The former Sevilla star is hugely experienced, and that would help Tottenham next season, especially in the UEFA Champions League.

The French central defender made seven starts and 14 substitute appearances in La Liga last season, and made 29 starts and four substitute appearances in the league in 2020-21.
