According to the Chronicle, Jetro Willems is still keen on returning to Newcastle, and the Magpies have a good chance of signing him.
The left-back, who has 19 Premier League appearances to his name, will be a free agent this summer according to the Chronicle.
He still keeps in close contact with Allan Saint-Maximin, and left a huge impression on Newcastle supporters while on loan in 2019/20.
The Chronicle add that he should have no issues finding a new club, with Panathinaikos one of the sides interested in him.
As things stand, Newcastle can call upon Jamal Lewis and Paul Dummett in the left-back department.
If needed, Matt Ritchie can also play there.

In that respect, you may argue that Newcastle don’t need another left-back.
However, we still think the Magpies should sign Willems.
Why?
Well, as Transfermarkt shows, the 27-year-old can also play further forward on the left, as well as in central midfield.

Additionally, the 22-cap Netherlands international is a fan favourite, knows Bruce well, and won’t need much time to settle in as a result.
There are plenty of positives about this potential deal.
Of course, it shouldn’t be a priority.
However, if Bruce feels his squad is a bit thin down the left, then it should be a no-brainer to bring Willems back to Tyneside.
