According to a report from Football Italia, Nicolo Zaniolo will not play for Roma again this season.
The Italian has fallen out with the manager and the owner in Rome, and, as such, he has been banished from the squad.
This comes after a huge amount of transfer speculation, including reports on deadline day that he wanted to join Leeds United.
The future is uncertain for the young midfielder, but it’s clear that his time at Roma is over. Whether he joins Leeds or another club, he will likely be looking to start fresh and revitalise his career elsewhere.
It’s a shame to see a someone who was once considered to be such a promising player fall out with his club, and, as of yet, we can’t be sure as to the reasons why Zaniolo and Roma’s relationship has collapsed.
The midfielder will now surely move in the summer transfer window, but where he ends up next remains to be seen.
Zaniolo has already shown his potential with his performances for both Roma and Italy, and it’s likely that he’ll have plenty of suitors come the end of the season.
The 24-year-old was one of the most talented young players in Italian football, but his fall out with Mourinho and the club’s owner has raised questions about his attitude.
The Leeds target is currently frozen out at Roma, but we’ve seen players come back from these situations before.
Indeed, Carlos Tevez at Manchester City managed to come back from a huge falling out, while others have also done similar, so maybe this isn’t the end of the road for Zaniolo in Rome.
Zaniolo’s future may be unclear, but one thing is certain – he is a player to keep an eye on come the end of the season as he angles for a move away from his current club.
