According to AS, Fenerbahçe are set to offload Mesut Özil, as they prepare to terminate the former Arsenal playmaker’s contract.

What’s the story?

Well, after seeing his Arsenal contract terminated in 2021, lightning could be about to strike twice for the 33-year-old.

AS believe Ali Koç has grown tired of Özil, and following an outburst in the dressing room, it seems the Turkish giants have had enough of the German.

Now, the former Real Madrid maestro could join David Beckham’s Inter Miami, or take an interesting venture into the Championship with Hull.

Ali Acun Ilıcalı – the owner of Hull – is a friend of Özil, which is why there are rumours of the unsettled midfielder joining the Tigers.

However, AS state that Özil dreams of playing in the United States, so if Fenerbahçe do decide to let him go, a move to Miami seems likely.

Before trouble struck, the Gelsenkirchen-born playmaker had scored nine goals in 26 games this season, while also providing two assists.

Mikel Arteta proven right at Arsenal after Mesut Özil news

In our view, Özil’s problems at Fenerbahçe justify Mikel Arteta’s decision to terminate his contract and ship him away from the Emirates Stadium in 2021.

There were many raised eyebrows when the Spaniard first banished the German from first-team duties, and then terminated his deal.

However, the same looks set to happen in Turkey, which suggests Özil is the problem rather than Arteta or anybody else.

To have back-to-back contracts terminated is not a good look for any player, and now, whichever club takes Özil on will surely be asking plenty of questions.

Nevertheless, he remains one of the most talented players of his generation, and we’re sure he’ll find a new side based on his ability alone.
