According to The London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur will complete the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Premier League rivals Southampton this weekend.

It has been reported that Tottenham will pay Southampton a transfer fee of £15 million to secure the services of Hojbjerg.

The report added that the Denmark international will now discuss personal terms with Spurs, and that it will be “a formality given the player’s desire to join Jose Mourinho’s team”.

One suspects that a medical will also have to be done, but that is unlikely to cause any problem, as Hojbjerg was playing for the Saints after football resumed following lockdown.

It has been further claimed that Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho has been an admirer of the 25-year-old Denmark international for some months, and that Spurs registered ‘tentative interest’ in the midfielder in the January transfer window.

Good signing for Tottenham Hotspur?

Hojbjerg has done well during his time at Southampton and has proved himself in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old is at the right age to take the next step in his career, and given his reported desire to join Spurs, he would be a very good signing for the North London outfit and would make an immediate impact on the team.

The midfielder is a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the park, and he would make Spurs formidable in that area.
