Rangers manager Steven Gerrard reportedly looks set to miss out on Florian Kamberi.
Kamberi spent the second half of this past season on loan at Rangers from Scottish Premiership rivals Hibernian.
Rangers spell
The 25-year-old forward scored one goal and provided two assists in six Scottish Premiership appearances for the Gers, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The Swiss also played thrice in the Europa League for Rangers, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
Rangers interest
According to The Edinburgh Evening News, Rangers proposed a season-long loan deal for Kamberi this summer, with midfielder Greg Docherty moving to Hibernian.
However, according to the report, the forward wanted a permanent deal, with his current contract at Hibernian running out next summer.
Missing out
The report has claimed that Hibernian and St Gallen have agreed a deal for the forward, with the Scottish side being paid a six-figure transfer fee and will have a sell-on clause.
Kamberi will now look to agree personal terms with the Swiss club, according to the report.
Blow for Rangers?
This will come as a blow for Rangers, who could do with a new forward in their squad.
Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe are the two main strikers at Rangers, and the Scottish Premiership giants could do with a new player upfront to stop bitter Old Firm rivals from winning the Scottish Premiership title yet again.
