Franck Kessie only joined Barcelona in the summer, but his future at Camp Nou is already up in the air.
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly submitted a bid for the Ivorian midfielder with Fabio Paratici reportedly a big fan, and now, he’s being linked with a move to Wolves.
Indeed, according to Spanish outlet, Sport, Kessie, along with Nico, are two players that could be used in a part-exchange deal by Barcelona in order to bring Ruben Neves to Catalonia.
Neves, as many will know, is destined for bigger and better things that Wolves, and Barcelona have been admirers for quite some time.
However, Xavi’s side are currently in the midst of unprecedented financial troubles, so they’re having to be very creative with their transfer dealings from here on in, and that may well involve using some of their current wantaway players as makeweights in swap deals.
Kessie is a prime candidate for such a role, and according to Sport, he could well be on his way to Molineux to swap places with Neves.
This could well be a big blow for Tottenham as they look to close in on the signing of the former AC Milan man this month, but, from Barca’s point of view, using Kessie to get hold of Neves may be the smarter play here.
Not only would sending Kessie to Wolves get his wages off their bill, they’d be landing a genuinely world-class midfielder who, if the worst case scenario unfolds, has massive sell-on potential at Camp Nou.
