According to The Chronicle, Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard ticks boxes both for the current regime at Newcastle United and for the prospective new owners.

It has been reported that Newcastle are interested in signing Edouard from Celtic in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that the French striker has been monitored by the Magpies’ scouts, and that he would be a player who would be appealing to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) as well.

“Edouard ticks boxes that the current regime require – age, potential and ability to make an impact,” states the report in The Chronicle.

“And, according to those with knowledge of the would-be buyers, his profile also qualifies for their remit.”

Good signing for Newcastle United?

Edouard is a very good striker who scored 28 goals in all competitions for Celtic this season, according to The Herald.

The Frenchman is only 22 years of age, and he will grow and develop further.

The striker has the attributes to succeed in the Premier League, and Newcastle could sell him for a huge fee after two or three years.

Celtic stay

However, Edouard himself has hinted to The Herald that he wants to stay at Celtic beyond the summer transfer window.

With the Hoops aiming to make it 10 Scottish Premiership titles in a row next season, the striker will want to be part of a history-making team.
