Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is on the verge of joining Fiorentina, according to The Times.

It has been reported that Torreira will leave Arsenal for Fiorentina on a season-long loan deal for a fee of £7.1 million.

The Italian club will reportedly have the option to make the loan deal permanent in the summer of 2021 for an additional £14.2 million.

Torino have also been interested in the 24-year-old, and Arsenal had hoped to recoup the £26 million they paid to Sampdoria to sign the Uruguay international in the summer of 2018, but the Gunners will have to settle for a loss, according to the report.

Disappointment for Arsenal

One can understand why Arsenal would be disappointed with Torreira’s reportedly impending exit from the Emirates Stadium.

After all, it is not good business from the North London outfit to sell a player for a loss after just two years, especially as the said player is just 24 years of age.

The North London outfit will be looking to finish in the top four of the Premier League table next season and will have to start the campaign strongly.
