The former Leeds United loanee Jean-Kevin Augustin has an agreement in principle with FC Nantes, according to L’Equipe.
Augustin spent the second half of last season on loan to Leeds but made just three substitute appearances.
And his parent club, RB Leipzig, have since accused the Whites of failing to honour an obligation to buy the Frenchman for £19 million following their promotion back to the Premier League – even threatening legal action.
Confusingly, then, L’Equipe describes Augustin as being ‘free from contract since May’ – despite his Leipzig deal having two years left to run, according to Transfermarkt.
What that means for Leeds from a legal point of view remains to be seen.
But Augustin moving clubs is surely a more positive than negative sign.
L’Equipe adds that the duration of Augustin’s contract with Nantes should not exceed three years.

Leeds have since signed the Spain striker Rodrigo Moreno in a club-record deal, while Patrick Bamford has scored three goals in his first four Premier League games for the club.
