According to L’Equipe, Victor Osimhen has turned down an approach from Liverpool and will join Napoli this weekend.

It has been reported by the French publication that Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester United made approaches for the Lille forward this week.

However, the 21-year-old politely turned down them as he has already given his word to Napoli, according to the report.

It has been further added that Lille and Napoli were in talks over a transfer for the youngster on Friday, and that a deal could be completed this weekend.

This latest reported development follows a claim in CalcioNapoli24 that the forward is tempted by a move to Liverpool, with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp having asked for him.

Good decision from Victor Osimhen?

Liverpool are a massive club and have just won the Premier League title, and given their global status, it is tempting for any player to join the Merseyside outfit.

However, Osimhen is only 21 years of age, and at this stage of his career, he needs to play regular first-football football.

That is unlikely to happen at Liverpool, and a move to Napoli – who are an ambitious club – does make sense.
