According to The Times, Ben Godfrey has interest from Newcastle United and Fulham, but the Norwich City defender is heading to Everton instead.

It has been reported that Everton have agreed to pay Norwich £25 million as an initial transfer fee to sign the 22-year-old central defender in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Newcastle and Fulham have shown interest in the England Under-21 international, but a move to Everton ‘appealed to the player’.

Good decision from Ben Godfrey?

Fulham have just come up from the Championship, and the Cottagers will be among the clubs who are going to fight for survival, and they could go back down to the second tier of English football.

True, Newcastle are an established club in the Premier League, but Everton are showing more ambition and seem to be aiming for the Champions League places.

The signings of James Rodríguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan have been massive, and at Everton, Godfrey could be part of something special.

Godfrey is a very good and promising young centre-back who would progress under Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti.
