According to Calciomercato, Juventus are now willing to let Aaron Ramsey leave for free in January, amid interest from Newcastle.

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian news outlet believe Juventus are so desperate to offload Ramsey from the wage bill, they’d let him go for nothing – on one condition.

The Newcastle target can leave Turin for free, as long as Juventus avoid paying a single euro in severance fees.

In terms of Ramsey’s next step, that is encouraging news as it should attract more clubs to his situation, in addition to the Magpies.

In a personal sense, however, that may not be something the Welshman is willing to accept.

The 30-year-old has only played 98 minutes in Serie A this season, and is out of favour under Massimiliano Allegri.

However, we presume he would be a man reborn at Newcastle, as he shone in England for Arsenal.

SportMediaSet even believe the Magpies are preparing a three-year contract for the Juventus No.8.

Ramsey scored 40 goals and provided 46 assists in 262 Premier League appearances for the Gunners.

Should Newcastle sign Aaron Ramsey?

Without a shadow of a doubt, the Magpies should sign Ramsey.

As 90min revealed, Newcastle are drafting two transfer shortlists, one for January with realistic targets in mind, and a more ambitious one for the summer.

In terms of the first shortlist, Ramsey would fit the bill.

He knows the Premier League well, and would therefore be more likely to make an instant impact to fire Newcastle to survival, like Joe Willock did.

Above all, if a player of Ramsey’s quality is available for free, you’d be a fool to reject him – the ex-Cardiff man is a truly brilliant footballer.

If Amanda Staveley and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia can bring Ramsey to Tyneside, it would be an excellent way to kick off their reign.
