It has been reported that the Lille defender is ‘now extremely close’ to joining Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
Lille will be paid an initial transfer fee of €26 million (£23.43 million) for the 22-year-old central defender and €4 million (£3.60 million) in bonuses, with the Brazilian youngster to earn €2 million (£1.80 million) per year after tax and will be handed a five-year contract, according to the report.
On Monday, Gabriel’s agent will travel from Brazil to London, while the player himself will fly from France to England to complete his medical and put pen to paper on the contract, according to the report.
Well-known Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has also claimed on Twitter that Arsenal have completed the deal to sign the 22-year-old.
