A player for whom Newcastle United and Sheffield United reportedly made approaches this summer is close to a move to Italy, according to reports in Greece.
It was claimed by SDNA in June that both Newcastle and Sheffield United were quoted €20 million (around £18.2m) for the Olympiacos midfielder, Mady Camara.
But Sportime states Olympiacos are now ‘receiving pressure’ from Fiorentina over Camara, and that all of the involved parties are ‘close to shaking hands’.
The value of Fiorentina’s bid remains unknown, although the latter publication adds, from sources close to the player, that the Greek giants would not say no to €15m euros, provided they receive 20 per cent of the player’s next sale.
Since reports of their interest in Camara emerged, Newcastle have signed an alternative central midfielder in Jeff Hendrick.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United are not thought to be in the market for reinforcements in Camara’s position, with talk of a summer departure for John Lundstram dying down.
But the pair could yet rue their decision not to pursue the 23-year-old if he impresses in Italy, where Inter Milan are also said to be keen.
Let us know – would Camara have been a good addition for Newcastle / Sheffield United?
