Mundo Deportivo claim that Clement Lenglet was given permission to miss Barcelona training on Monday with a move to Tottenham so advanced. The Spanish newspaper claim a deal is ‘practically closed’.
Lenglet, 27, was told he can leave Barcelona this summer – with Barca signing Andreas Christensen. He joins a list of options at centre-back that also includes Pique, Eric Garcia and Ronald Araujo. They also want to sign Jules Kounde.
The France international is now set to join Spurs on a loan-to-buy deal. Gary Lineker was full of praise for the deal between his two former clubs, as Spurs finally bring in a left-sided centre-back to rival Ben Davies.

The report states Lenglet missed Monday training – with Xavi giving Lenglet permission to remain absent as he strikes a deal with Spurs. The report says a deal is done, and that Barcelona will pay 15% of his wages during the loan.

It is a superb bit of business from Fabio Paratici. Many Spurs fans will point to missing out on a player such as Alessandro Bastoni. But the Italy ace was never going to leave Inter Milan.
Lenglet is a low-risk signing. Yes, the last 12 months have been tricky. But many must remember he was one of the best left-footed centre-backs in Europe while at Sevilla and during his early spell at Barcelona.
Landing him on loan, with a bargain permanent clause included, removes any doubt. Spurs can keep him on the cheap, or decide to let him leave next summer. Like, Pierluigi Gollini has done this summer.
