Everton are willing to let Burnley target Fabian Delph leave Goodison Park on loan, although his £80,000-a-week wages could prove a substantial stumbling block, according to The Sun (27 September, page 61).
Jean Philippe Gbamin is not the only Everton enforcer who arrived amid big expectations in 2019 but, because of a series of fitness problems, now finds himself well down the pecking order.
Delph has yet to make a single Premier League appearance for the Toffees since February.
And, despite catching Carlo Ancelotti’s eye during a rare outing in the midweek thrashing of Fleetwood Town, the £10 million player was left out of the squad once more for Saturday’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.
The terrific form of Abdoulaye Doucoure, Andre Gomes and particularly Allan doesn’t bode well for the England international, while Delph is also behind Tom Davies and Gylfi Sigurdsson in Ancelotti’s plans.
So you would imagine the former Manchester City ace would jump at the chance to leave on loan, especially if Burnley come calling (6 September, page 63).

After all, Sean Dyche is the sort of old-school coach who admires hard-working, versatile footballers such as Delph, a natural-born leader who captained Aston Villa and was an influential voice in Pep Guardiola’s star-studded dressing room.
The report does add, however, that Delph’s £80k-a-week wages could prove problematic (Spotrac).
No-one in Burnley’s squad earns more than £55k a week.
