According to The Express, Chelsea are leading Arsenal and Newcastle United among other clubs in the race for Barcelona-owned Philippe Coutinho.
It has been reported that Frank Lampard’s side are now the favourites for the Brazil international, who is on loan at Bayern Munich at the moment.
The report has added that Barcelona will accept £80 million as transfer fee for the former Liverpool attacking midfielder, and will even do a loan deal for a fee of £10 million+ if all of his £250,000-a-week wages are paid by the signing club.
Newcastle, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the 27-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, according to the report.
Still enough time
There is still enough time for the likes of Newcastle and Arsenal to sign Coutinho.
It is hard to see the Brazilian be in a rush to make a decision just yet, and perhaps Barcelona will be more flexible in the coming weeks and months as the financial impact on football due to the global health crisis becomes clearer.
