Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has held discussions with Liverpool over signing striker Rhian Brewster, the Sheffield Star have reported.
Wilder has been in discussions with Liverpool this week over getting hold of the young forward, but he now realises that doing so will be difficult.
The Blades wanted to sign Brewster so he was available of their first game of the season, but that seems impossible.
Jurgen Klopp has still not decided whether to allow Brewster to leave Liverpool, or whether he wants to keep him at the club.
If he was to move to Blades it could be an ideal trip for his development.
There have been some suggestions that Liverpool could sell Brewster, but Sheffield United only want to land him on a loan deal for the season.

Brewster has scored prolifically at Championship level, and it seems that the Blades feel that he is ready to make the step up now.
If Brewster was to move to Bramall Lane his chances of first-team football would be greatly increased from what they are at Liverpool, as Wilder’s side could do with adding a real goalscorer to their group.
