According to The Telegraph, Brighton and Hove Albion are now looking for full backs to replace Bernardo amid links with Premier League clubs.

It’s claimed that Graham Potter is in the market for a new left back, in anticipation that Bernardo will be leaving the club.

West Ham United are keen to sign the Brazilian, as David Moyes wants to bring a versatile full back to the London Stadium.

The Hammers are also considering Bournemouth’s Adam Smith, with Moyes seeking a full back who can play on the right and left flanks.

Bernardo fits the bill, as whilst he is naturally left-footed and plays primarily as a left back, he has also played at right back for RB Leipzig in the past.

The 25-year-old has played 36 Premier League games for Brighton, but lost his left-back spot last season as Dan Burn switched over to play in that role.

He is well-built at 6ft 1in tall, but just couldn’t nail down a spot under Potter and could be a smart capture if given first-team chances.

Sky Sports claimed last week that Newcastle United want Bernardo too, but that now seems a little unlikely with Norwich City’s Jamal Lewis set for a move to St James’ Park.

West Ham look to be the leading contenders for Bernardo if they really want him, with Brighton seemingly preparing to lose him.
