Italian midfield star Andrea Pirlo has committed his future to Juventus until 2016, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Despite interest from Real Madrid, Chelsea and Tottenham, Andrea Pirlo has opted to sign a new deal at Juventus, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
The 34-year-old’s current contract expires in the summer and there had been suggestions that a number of top European clubs would form a queue at the end of the season.
But after a month and a half of talks between Pirlo’s representative and Juventus director Beppe Marotta, it seems that an agreement has been reached.
The club will reportedly announce the deal immediately after Juventus’ game against Inter on February 2.
This contract is worth less than the alleged offer that Spurs were preparing but Pirlo was always likely to want to stay at Juventus where he is held in such high regard.
Juventus have always insisted that Pirlo would be staying put in spite of recent reports that Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was pushing for him to come to Spain.
There had also been rumours that if Clarence Seedorf became AC Milan manager he would swoop for former colleague Pirlo.
However, even though Seedorf is set to be unveiled as Rossoneri boss, such a deal looks somewhat far-fetched.
