Leeds United could be closing in on the signing of Hamburg’s Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
According to German newspaper Bild, Hamburg’s Pierre-Michel Lasogga has agreed a loan move to Leeds United, as the Whites look to replace the now-departed Chris Wood.
After hitting 30 goals in all competitions last season, Wood left Elland Road last week to join Premier League side Burnley in a big-money deal, leaving Leeds a little short of options in attack.
Summer signing Caleb Ekuban is out of action with an injury, whilst Souleymane Doukara and Marcus Antonsson have both left the club, meaning Thomas Christiansen needs more forwards – even with Jay-Roy Grot arriving from NEC Nijmegen last week.
Leeds have been chasing Hamburg hitman Pierre-Michel Lasogga in recent weeks, and having arrived in the UK on Monday to think over a move to Elland Road, Bild now report that Lasogga has agreed to join Leeds on loan.
It’s claimed that Lasogga will pen a season-long loan deal with Leeds, having been convinced that the Whites are the right club for him having spent time around the club on Monday.
Lasogga, 25, joined Hamburg from Hertha Berlin in 2013, and has a record of 30 goals in 107 games for Hamburg, but found the net just twice in a frustrating campaign last season.
Now, the burly target man – who possesses great strength and aerial ability – looks set for a move to Elland Road, where he will hope to fill the void left by Wood in the Leeds attack.
Even with Grot signed and Lasogga seemingly imminent, Leeds could yet add another striker, as Fotboll Skanalen in Sweden claim that Malmo’s Pawel Cibicki has agreed a four-year deal with the Whites as Christiansen and co revamp their attacking options.
