According to The London Evening Standard, Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg wants to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
It’s claimed that Spurs are leading the race for Hojbjerg, and are confident that they can drive down Southampton’s £35million asking price.
Tottenham want to offer Kyle Walker-Peters as part of the deal, having spent the second half of the season on loan at Southampton.
Boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is allegedly impressed with Walker-Peters, and may now bring him to the South Coast on a permanent basis.
Spurs won’t have big money to spend this summer due to the global pandemic, so a £35million deal for Hojbjerg seems unlikely.
Sticking Walker-Peters into the deal after some impressive displays for the Saints seems like a reasonable compromise for all, especially with Hojbjerg out of contract in 2021.

The Dane seems reluctant to extend his deal and has been stripped of the captaincy, with his desire to join Spurs surely pushing him another step closer to the exit door.
Add in that Mourinho allegedly wants a ‘more physical’ right back than Walker-Peters, and this part-exchange seems to make almost too much sense.
With Eric Dier becoming a full-time defender, Hojbjerg can step into the Spurs midfield and offer some grit in Jose Mourinho’s engine room – if a deal is actually done.
