According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are confident of signing Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer.

It’s claimed that Hojbjerg favours a move to Tottenham over any other club; The Telegraph reported last month that Everton also want to sign him.

It seems that the Dane prefers Spurs to Everton, and looks likely to move on this summer with just one year left on his Southampton contract.

Hojbjerg has already been stripped of the Southampton captaincy ahead of leaving the club, but the Saints still have a £35million price tag on his head.

Tottenham allegedly hope to drive that price down, and may be tempted to offer right back Kyle Walker-Peters to the Saints in a part-exchange deal.

Spurs may look to other avenues to raise funds, with Danny Rose and Juan Foyth named as players who could be offloaded to help fund a move for Hojbjerg.

The 24-year-old has been a battling midfielder in the Saints side since joining from Bayern Munich, and that’s what Tottenham are looking for right now.

With Eric Dier dropping into defence, Hojbjerg could become the combative midfielder in the Spurs side – and with Hojbjerg fancying a move to Tottenham, they’re seemingly confident of beating the likes of Everton to a deal.
