Niko Kranjcar has spent the majority of the season ruled out with injury, Matt Gilks departed after just six months and Joey Barton had his contract terminated after just three months following an infamous training ground row.
As such, 32-year-old Senderos has almost been forgotten about entirely.
He may have played twice in Warburton’s final few weeks in charge before his February dismissal but a grand total of four appearances, plus a debut red card for a needless handball in the 5-1 humiliation at Celtic Park, means the defender is unlikely to be missed at Ibrox – although youngster David Bates told Rangers’ official website the Senderos’ experience makes him an excellent example to the club’s next generation on the training pitch.
Nonetheless, while the futures of Kenny Miller and Clint Hill remain up in the air, the Daily Record report that there are few questions about whether Senderos will still be at the club next season.
They claim he is one of the club’s highest earners, meaning Rangers will be keen to free up funds for new signings by realising the veteran after one forgettable year in Scotland.
